There are two general types of teeth whitening. The first, most commonly refered to as "in-office" whitening, is a process where a high concentration of peroxide (Carbamide or Hydrogen) is placed on the teeth to provide fast results, eliminating the need for a take home regimen. The major drawbacks of "in-office" whitening are price ($400-$900) and most importantly teeth sensitivity. Zoom and BriteSmile are two examples of "in-office" whitening.

The second type of teeth whitening is referred to as "take-home" whitening which includes the take home trays prescribed by your dentist or any of the over-the-counter solutions such as Crest White Strips. This process includes a lower concentration of peroxide that is placed on your teeth for an extended period of time, usually once a day for up to 4 weeks (product procedures vary). The major drawbacks of "take-home" whitening are teeth sensitivity due to continued exposure of peroxide on the teeth as well as what we call the "dedication factor". It takes dedication to follow the strict regimens that these systems require. Many people use them for a few days and fall of the wagon, so to speak.

WhiteSmileUSA's LightWhite process combines the effectiveness of both of these systems. LightWhite provides the dramatic results associated with other "in-office" procedures, but we do this with a lower percentage of peroxide than Zoom and BriteSmile so the instances of teeth sensitivity are greatly reduced. How does LightWhite provide the same fast results with a lower percentage of peroxide? The key is our Photo Initiators. The PI's work in tandem with the LightWhite Whitening light to provide dramatic results in just 12 or in some cases 24 minutes.

Is It Safe?

Yes. Teeth bleaching has been performed safely for decades. It is so safe that the FDA and even the American Dental Association have approved you, the consumer, to perform whitening procedures at home. The most common side effect is teeth sensitivity.

Teeth Sensitivity-The Industry's Dirty Little Secret

Teeth sensitivity is a major issue with the current teeth whitening procedures. In-office procedures such as BriteSmile and Zoom use a high percentage of peroxide (up to 35%), which can cause severe sensitivity (zingers). Take home products such as the trays and Crest Whitestrips use a lower peroxide level, but require continued long term exposure to the peroxide. This can cause severe sensitivity as well. Many of the people we polled on this issue complained of tooth sensitivity so severe, they had to go to the emergency room to get prescription pain medication.

We have performed thousands of procedures and have found no reason to use the extreme levels of peroxide or expose your teeth to peroxide for long periods of time. The LightWhite Whitening System has the lowest levels of teeth sensitivity on the market--guaranteed.
