Teeth Whitening Options Limited by Alabama Supreme Court
Statement by Charles Barfield, CEO of White Smile USA Regarding the Alabama Supreme Court’s Ruling on Light White.

While we will respect the court’s decision to not sell Light White services in the state of Alabama, we strongly reject the court’s opinion that our product constitutes the practice of dentistry.
Over the past 2 years the Alabama State Dental board made every effort to scare the public into thinking that our product and process was a danger to the public. They did so with no evidence of any harm to anyone at our court hearing. They also warned the public about potential sanitation issues at our stores with no evidence of any unsanitary conditions. The bottom line here is that they were able to shut down a thriving industry in Alabama to protect a monopoly on professional teeth whitening results. Our teeth whitening systems are as effective as the systems they charge $300-$400 for in their offices, and this threatened a lucrative business for them. Alabama citizens will now have fewer choices and will pay more for teeth whitening. This decision also eliminated hundreds of jobs in Alabama.
We will continue to sell our take home products to the citizens of Alabama, but we will not be providing “light assisted” services due to this ruling.
